KONY 2012 on lyhyt ja vaikuttava dokumenttielokuva, jonka tarkoitus on välittää viesti. Katsojan ei tarvitse kuin kuunnella. Iltalehdestä ja Facebookista on tämän aamun saanut seurava videon linkkauksia, joten viesti tuntuu menevän perille. Tampereella on nyt käynnissä Tampere Film Festival, joten suosittelen ehdottomasti myös tähän dokkariin perehtymistä. Toinen vinkki: älä katso bussissa, hyvin surullista materiaalia luvassa. Aika avata silmät ja kömpiä pois epätietoisuuden pehmeästi viltistä ja kohdata maailma sellaisena mitä se on. Älä kiellä totuutta.

Every voice counts - don't be silenced!

Kaikki on varmaan ehtineet lukea uutisen homo-sanan kieltävästä laista, joka on Pietariin tulossa voimaan. Käytännössä tämä laki tarkoittaa, että kellekkään alle 18 vuotiaalle ei saa kertoa tai puhua homoudesta. Tämä on mielestäni sensuuria, jollaista voisi kuvitella Neuvostoliiton aikaiselta Venäjältä, mutta ei todellakaan 2000-luvun valtiolta. Kaduilla tapahtuvat julkiset hellyyden osoitukset olisivat jatkossa kiellettyjä ja kaikki homouteen liittyvä rikollista. Sensuuria isolla kädellä. Käy kirjoittamassa All-Outin addressi ja toivotaan yhdessä, että Pietarin kuvernööri käyttää veto-oikeuttaan tässä asiassa! Kannattaa myös katsoa tämä All-Outin video, jossa on hieno yllätys lopussa jos ei heti tiedä kyseistä faktaa!

Did you know that lawmakers in Russia's cultural capital of Saint Petersburg just passed a law that would make it a "crime" to write a book, publish an article or speak in public about being gay, lesbian, bi or transgender - labeling it "homosexual propaganda"?
I just watched a powerful video illustrating this attack on fundamental rights, and joined thousands in signing a powerful message to the Governor, who has the power to veto the bill, letting him know that if he signs this bill in to law - I won't be spending a single cent as a tourist in his city. And I'm telling my friends and family to do the same.
Major governments have condemned the bill, and a grassroots surge of calls and petitions hasn't been able to stop it's advance. But with Russia spending $11 billion in the next five years to attract international tourists, and Saint Petersburg's reputation as the cosmopolitan "window to the west," together we will make sure that the powers that be in Russia will hear our people power - and buying power - loud and clear.
Take a minute to watch this video - and sign this letter to the governor, and ask your friends and colleagues to do the same. We only have a few more days to sway the Governor - and every voice counts.

Uganda: Pysäytä "Homoille kuolema" laki nyt

Voitko allekirjoittaa ja jakaa tämän addressin joka vaatii että Ugandan presidentti Museveni lopettaa ihmisoikeusrikkomukset lupaamalla käyttää veto-oikeuttaan "Kill the Gays" lakiin.

Seuraavan 28 tunnin kuluessa konservatiivit voivat saada läpi lain joka tekee LGBT ihmisenä olemisesta kuolemalla rangaistattavan  teon.

In the next 48 hours, conservative lawmakers could move a bill that would make being LGBT in Uganda a crime punishable by death.

This hateful bill is part of a pattern of the Ugandan government's violent repression of pro-democracy forces within the country - and time is running out to stop it.

I just signed a petition demanding that Ugandan President Musevini veto the "Kill The Gays" bill should it be passed in Parliament.


We just learned the “kill the gays” bill - a death sentence for LGBT people in Uganda - could come up for a vote in the next 48 hours if we don’t act now.


Conservative leaders are trying hard to push the bill forward before the millions like us who oppose it have a chance to speak out.  If we can create a massive international outcry, theres a chance to stop this bill from becoming law.


This hateful bill appears to be a political diversion, a way to distract from the legitimate grievances of pro-democracy activists, who have been beaten, teargassed, jailed, and even killed in recent weeks.
